Would the Police Department be willing to work with an oversight committee made up of regular citizens with no political affiliations and no relationships with any police department employees?

As a business owner in Camarillo I wholeheartedly OPPOSE ANY defunding of or reapportionment of funds for police. The ONLY way to keep our Community safe, is to provide support to our law enforcement departments!!

In 2018, I had went through an upsetting restraining order, which I unfairly lost. However, the victims advocate group at the county house urged that I still file a police report for the abuse I went through, to include strangulation.

I went to the Camarillo Police Office to file. The officer was rude, judge mental, asked me if I was really afraid of my abuser, and if I was only getting revenge to mess with his security clearance. I was not. He did not believe me.

At one point he left to shoot the poo with a group of officers outside and came back in.

He again asked me if I was doing this for revenge and that by filing, I would not be able to win my restraining order. I acknowledge it and said neither of those statements were true.

I gave him an example of my abusers malicious behavior. And the officer replied back, yes I read that you tried to kill your self when I looked up your name.

He would not take my statements from when my husband strangulated me in October of 2016 or of November 2018. He would not take any of the strangulation photos I had. He only said he’d take a report for my husband for punching me in the head. When I gave him the photos he said this could be anyone’s ear.

For months afterwards I emailed the officer, called him, left multiple messages to see if I could receive a copy of the police report I filed. It is 2020 and I have still never heard back from the officer that took my statement. I’m 100% convinced that he took no action on it.

How can the PD account and answer for this officer’s actions? How is DV handling taught? Why was I ignored for months by VC sheriff department?

I see the vetting and screening process outlined on the FAQ page of venturasheriff.org for academy applicants. Are all VCSO deputies required to be trained through the VCSO academy, or are some deputies hired after serving in other agencies? If so, how do the application and vetting processes differ for these hires?

I watched a forum with Sheriff Ayub last month that was incredibly informative. In it, he discussed that a major part of recruiting for the department is recruitment through our local military bases. I was wondering if you could expand upon what other methods of recruitment are used?

I also was wondering if we could get a brief outline or list of what we - average members of the community - can do to work with and support our police for a safer community? I know Neighborhood Watches are a big one, which our community needs to expand; but are there other programs or opportunities for us to engage and become more active in community participation of policing or safety?

Hi, in an effort to better fund and support our students, children, and community, would the Camarillo Police be willing to donate 1% of their budget to the Pleasant Valley School District? Thank you. Regards, DG.

Thank you for your service and those brave men and women who serve our community.
What is the Department's practice for holding accountable those few officers who may cross the line of appropriate conduct?
Since our police force is actually County Sheriffs... are the disciplinary actions regulated and enforced by the County?
What confirmation do you receive from the County that those disciplinary actions have taken place?

What information is not included on the City's COVID-19 webpage that you would like to see added? County wide stats about "excess deaths" broken down by city; Info from local doctors: different ones weekly
