The Nye County Department of Public Works wishes to have the public's feedback on a possible federal grant-funded road project in Pahrump and Amargosa valleys. We have applied for a grant opportunity through the Nevada Federal Lands Access Program to rehabilitate and improve two potential sections of county roadways and are currently beginning the pre-grant discussions.
Those sections are Bell Vista Avenue from State Highway 160 to Warren Street; and Bob Ruud Memorial Highway from Warren Street to the California state line, covering 20.6 miles total. See discussion of the program and area maps below.
The project cost is estimated at $24.8 million, requiring a 5-percent match by Nye County at $1.3 million.
If awarded, the project is scheduled to start in 2024.
Nye County has been shortlisted to continue with the prelude scoping phase. The public comment period will run through February 25, 2021.
The Public Works Department is excited about this opportunity and greatly values your input. Your feedback could help Nye County's selection for this funding.
