Refrigerator removal

We are being told not to open the refrigerator in the house. How do we get it moved out? Who will pick it up?

Hi Richard, while I don't know that there is any problem with opening the refrigerator in the house (besides a potential smell) you will need to clean out all food products before taking it to the Transfer Station for disposal.

Some people are concerned about mold growth in the refrigerator resulting from the days when power was turned off. Throw out all perishable food. If there is mold growth (even if there is no observable mold), put on some rubber or nitrile gloves, a N95 or better face mask, and apply a bleach solution. Be sure to have adequate ventilation while you're working. Wipe down or scrub all the nooks and crannies of the refrigerator.
