Accessory dwelling units (ADUs) are currently allowed as accessory to detached single family dwellings with a size limit of 900 sq.ft., one bedroom and one parking space, in addition to other restrictions in City Code.

I SUPPORT incentives to encourage ADU construction or conversions of existing accessory buildings (i.e. garages) into ADUs.
Would you support a change to the Sandpoint City Code that would allow for smaller lot sizes than currently allowed to provide more housing options (i.e. townhouses or other fee simple attached single family units or smaller detached homes). Yes, I support smaller lot sizes to create more housing options

What would improve your neighborhood? A larger buffer between lots and more space between buildings. Although it is commercial at PIne Street where we own a property, the recent trend of building ginormous buildings that take up every square inch of the lot and block out the sun for neighbors is not welcome. I like the diversity and I like how it has both businesses and residence. You know what else would improve the downtown area? A limit or ban on condos which do not benefit locals and create an exclusivity zone and an unfriendly vibe not conducive to Sandpoint.
What do you like best about your neighborhood? Diverse, one of the oldest in Sandpoint. Mature trees and a real history. Located directly downtown and close to everything including regular institutions like the post office, a local hardware store and restaurants. Also the Farmer's Market.

I SUPPORT CHANGES to ADU regulations. Please indicate changes in next question.
If you support changes to ADU regulations, please indicate what changes you would like to see below. We need to have sufficient parking, snow storage and recreational toys storage.
Would you support a change to the Sandpoint City Code that would allow for smaller lot sizes than currently allowed to provide more housing options (i.e. townhouses or other fee simple attached single family units or smaller detached homes). Other - Not sure that they need to be 50' wide but 5000 sq ft seems reasonable for parking, snow storage and other needs. Could be possibly a bit smaller if other issues such a wider alley or other space is reserved for some of the mentioned uses.

I SUPPORT CHANGES to ADU regulations. Please indicate changes in next question.
If you support changes to ADU regulations, please indicate what changes you would like to see below. I support current ADU regulations with the exception of 9-1-8-C(1), exterior finishing required to match the finish of the home if ADU is added via additional floor area to the primary dwelling. That comes across as a regulation more appropriate for consideration by homeowner's associations, rather than being a city requirement.

What would improve your neighborhood? Water infrastructure upgrades. Many of the supply control boxes are located right where a sidewalk would (should) go through and need to be moved closer to the curb. The lateral supply pipes from the boxes to the main line (and probably the main line itself) I'm sure are due to be replaced.
What do you like best about your neighborhood? My neighborhood is great. One side of the street is zoned Residential, and the other side of the street is zoned Mixed-Use. There are several types of residential dwellings, old and new, as well as some light commercial that provide convenient services within spitting distance. It's a very diverse neighborhood that doesn't have a sterile, cooker-cutter feel.

What would improve your neighborhood? Have enforcement of ADU, there is a house in our neighborhood that has people living in multiple units behind the house. We have seen code enforcement there previously but units are still occupied.
What do you like best about your neighborhood? Friendly neighbors, easy walking & biking to parks and town. I like single story homes so we can all enjoy the view.
Unfortunately views in downtown Sandpoint are rapidly vanishing.

What would improve your neighborhood? We are designated as zone. 3 for snow events. Thankfully this year we had more plowing done than previous years. Thank you! An improvement to the neighborhood would be that not only more timely plowing occurs regularly, but also use of sand and street and berm clearing is done more frequently in zones 2 and 3 as it is done in zone 1.
What do you like best about your neighborhood? Quiet neighborhood, wonderful neighbors, very little traffic, single family homes, walking and bicycling distance to downtown and library.
