To solicit feedback about potential commercial cannabis regulations, the City of Concord recently issued a 10-question survey designed for the Concord community.

“The City Council is interested in hearing from their constituents about potential locations and requirements that may be imposed on commercial cannabis businesses,” said City Manager Valerie Barone.

In 2016, California voters approved Proposition 64, the Control, Regulate, and Tax Adult-Use of Marijuana Act, which legalized adult-use cannabis in the State. Under this ballot measure, each California city and county may choose to regulate or prohibit cannabis. In 2018, the City of Concord developed regulations applying to medicinal and adult-use cannabis testing laboratories, as well as medicinal cannabis manufacturing and distribution businesses.

This spring, the City Council and Concord Planning Commission directed staff to develop regulations regarding commercial cannabis retail (storefront and non-storefront) and microbusinesses (small-scale cultivation, distribution, manufacturing, and/or retail) for their consideration.

The City’s Cannabis Survey is available on the Concord Community Town Hall platform at: www.cityofconcord.org/townhall through Friday, July 19.

We need your feedback on the proposed district elections boundary map!

At the City Council meeting on February 6th, 2018, The City Council directed the City's demographer to create the proposed final District Boundary Map for Council District Elections, called the Cobalt Plan map. Click here for the interactive version of the map. To see the demographic breakdown of this map, click here. The City Council considered public testimony and four draft maps as well as several maps submitted by the community before deciding to modify the Plan Blue map. To create the Cobalt map, the Plan Blue map was modified to divide the Concord Naval Weapons Station area into three Council Districts. It also unified the downtown into District 2, and it provided for a better population balance, with a lower population deviation of 4.3%.
