PISMO BEACH DOWNTOWN STRATEGIC PLAN AND THE VISION FOR A PIER PLAZA
In 2014 the Pismo Beach Downtown Strategic Plan was adopted with concept plans for the long-term vision of a future Pier Plaza and Price Street. This was a community-based effort that culminated into a vision for the downtown and garnered wide community support.
The main goals identified for the Pier Plaza/Pier Parking Lot included:
- Reconfiguring and landscaping the Pier Plaza parking lot to add parking spaces and beautify the area
- Demolishing existing restrooms
- Installing new restrooms
-
Activating the plaza area adjacent to the beach including, but not limited to: seating, public art, active areas (e.g. bocce ball, playground) and other similar uses
The design of the new facilities have been selected and two possible locations have been identified. In each case, the restrooms would double the current capacity. Story-poles will be on-site to help illustrate the proposed sites.
The City Council is considering the following two options and We would like to hear from you on your preference for the location of the new public restrooms.

Option 1 - Locating one restroom (with 400-square-foot Visitor Information Center) at the northeast corner of the parking lot and another at the south end of the parking lot.
Option 2 - Locating two restrooms to frame the entrance to the pier. One restroom would include a 400-square-foot visitor center and the other would include a 400-square-foot concession area. (The current restroom that will be replaced, is located in approximately the same location as the northern building location in Option 2).
