I strongly urge the city to NOT fluoridate the city water supply. It is unfair to force fluoride on those that do not want it. Fluoride is easily available in toothpaste and at the dentist. It is also in most beverages bought at grocery stores. Orange juice, tea, sodas, sparkling water etc. Fluoride can accumulate in the bones and tissues and has been shown to have a negative effect on the thyroid gland. The last public vote on this was 51 years ago. Way before the public could educate themselves with online access. No one I know uses a "pea sized" amount of toothpaste when brushing their teeth. And it is on the label to call the poison control center if this tiny bit is ingested. Europe does not fluoridate the water. Can you please just focus on serving us pure clean water? A courtesy of a response would be appreciated. Thank you, Dave Baldwin Issaquah, WA I do not want fluoride In my water. This information may be of interest regarding The City of Issaquah wanting to fluoridate the city's drinking water: Please read this article which cites several medical studies and scientific research regarding the fluoridation question, including JAMA Pediatrics and Environmental Health Perspectives. Too much of anything, even good things, can be toxic and detrimental. Please do no fluoridate our water. There are too many health risks to people who are sensitive to fluoride. It should not be forced upon the population. Please focus on providing clean water. Avoid adding any chemicals that do not contribute to that. Thank you.
