Route 105 Riders, please tell us what you think.
Thank you for your interest.
Metro analyzed and considered the results of the survey; thank you for sharing your thoughts on this proposal. In response to comments about safety and other concerns, Metro plans to change the Route 105 to stay on the NE 3rd/NE4th street arterial in both directions instead of making the turn onto Edmonds Avenue NE. This change will go into effect for the March 2019 service change.

Welcome to the Renton rider survey for route 105
Route 105 is one is one of Metro's busiest suburban routes. It provides more than one thousand rides a day, connects downtown Renton to the Renton Highlands, and helps 115 riders get to Renton Technical College everyday.
Today, Route 105 leaves the NE 3rd/NE 4th street arterial near Renton Technical College to make a right-angle turn between Edmonds Avenue NE and NE 4th street.
So Metro is considering changing Route 105 to stay on the NE 3rd/NE 4th street arterial in both directions instead of making the turn onto Edmonds Avenue NE. If approved, this change would begin as early as next March.
Why make this change?
Staying on the NE 3rd/NE 4th street arterial will make Route 105 trips faster by about two minutes in each direction, and will also help keep the buses on time.
Only about 20 percent of those who ride Route 105 through the area in question use stops there. And almost three-quarters of those riders use stops closest to NE 3rd Street and NE 4th Street, a very short walk from new stops that are proposed as part of this change (see diagram).
In fall 2017, more than 70 percent of weekday trips on Route 105 were 3-4 minutes behind schedule after serving this part of the route. Saturday and Sunday trips have similar delays.
Details about the change
• Buses would stay on the NE 3rd/NE 4th street arterial and would no longer travel along the local roads (Edmonds Avenue NE and NE 4th Street).
• Seven bus stops along the local roads would be removed (three westbound stops and four eastbound stops).
• One new bus stop in each direction would be added on NE 3rd Street at Edmonds Avenue NE (see diagram).
• Renton Technical College riders would use existing bus stops on NE 4th Street at Monroe Ave NE (see diagram).
