What would you like to see in upcoming renovation plans to Acorn Urban Park?
We will be renovating Acorn Urban Park and we want your ideas! The park, located at the intersection of East West Highway and Newell Street in Silver Spring, contains significant historic resources. In 1955, the park was dedicated around the original "Silver Spring" discovered by Francis Blair in 1840. Other historical features include the acorn gazebo, which was part of the Blair Farm, and documentation that President Abraham Lincoln played town ball, a form of baseball, in the area. The intent of this project is to restore the historic features and activate the park to better serve the nearby communities. Park staff is seeking public input concept phase.
