Spring Creek Neighborhood - What do you think about the proposed zone change for the charter school property?
Provo City residents are encouraged to provide input on new development within the city. We value our residents' opinion and ideas. Your input assists staff in ensuring that all viewpoints are heard and to make them aware of concerns as well as what residents see as a match to the City's vision.

Description
Jodi Hoffman requests a zone change from A1.5 (agricultural) to SC2 (community shopping center) zone, located at 1724 S State Street in the Spring Creek Neighborhood to allow the charter school to be used as a preschool and for recreational use. The property currently houses Treeside Charter School within two buildings. The owner and developer of the property is seeking a rezone to facilitate the continued use of the property should the charter school cease its lease of the two buildings. The property owner foresees an easy use transition for the property if, at a minimum, preeschool and recreational uses are permitted in the zone. Applicant states that the larger building would most effectively be used as an indoor athletic club, with perhaps supporting and related wellness uses, and the smaller school building would most effectively be used as a preschool, uses included in the SC2 zone.
Status
A neighborhood meeting is scheduled for October 3, 2020. The application has been under review of various Provo City departments and has been scheduled for a Planning Commission hearing on October 14, 2020. Because it is a zone change, it will also need to be heard by the Provo City Council.
