Do you have any other suggestions about how to improve on-street parking in the Joaquin Neighborhood?
The city made strict regulations against using residentially zoned houses as rentals One of the reasons they did this was to reduce on-street parking. However, the city didn’t address what to me is an even bigger issue. The city gives permits to large apartment complexes to have renters, but these complexes don’t provide enough parking. One example of this issue is Old Academy. By my estimates, Old Academy has 300 residents and 80 parking spots (I’m more confident in the residents estimate than the parking estimate so I estimated high on the parking). If we assume that half of the residents at Old Academy have cars, (I think that is a low estimate) there would be a surplus of 70 cars that need to be parked somewhere. The city needs to require complexes to build sufficient parking to get approved to legally rent out rooms.
