Provo City has received a proposal that would involve building a medical school on a portion of the East Bay Golf Course. Presentations were made at the Provo City Council's November 21, 2017, work meeting on the details of the proposal (see video below).
Wasatch Educational's proposal would take the land from holes 10, 11, and 12 (northwest corner of the course) to build a medical campus. Those three holes would be relocated and a professional golf course designer hired to prepare a plan for the three new holes and any other modifications to keep a championship 18-hole course along with the 7-hole executive course. Phase III of the project (projected for 2033 or later) includes an option to expand the campus, displacing three more holes on the course.
If the Council decides to move forward with considering approval of Wasatch Educational's proposal, that portion of the current golf course will need to be placed on the surplus property list and a public hearing held.
