What types of land uses would you like to see on Provo's west side?
The Southwest Area Neighborhood Plan: A blueprint for the future development of the Fort Utah, Provo Bay, Sunset, and Lakewood neighborhoods.
The development of the Southwest Area Neighborhood Plan is in progress. The resulting plan will establish policies and a course for public investment in the area, directions for private investment and development, and guideposts to establish a broader community identity.
So far, we've gathered input on existing conditions, current policies, and existing plans. These include, among others, the Provo City General Plan; Vision 2030; the Provo City Transportation Master Plan; the Bicycle Master Plan; the Provo Airport Master Plan; the Provo City Parks and Recreation Master Plan; and the Utah Lake Master Plan.
We now want more public feedback from those who live, work, or play in the Southwest area of Provo, both online and through community workshops. Public Hearings will be held before the Planning Commission and the Municipal Council after completion of a draft plan and presentation to the neighborhoods. Adoption of the Plan is anticipated for Spring of 2017.
About this mapping exercise
The focus of this online mapping activity is to learn about your priorities, and to welcome new ideas. You'll be asked to indicate on a map where and how development should be focused. The results will help lay the groundwork for the creation of land use alternatives, providing options for how the Southwest Area can be developed over the coming years. The options will be presented in a public workshop in early 2017. Click on "Your Suggestion" to get started.
Future online exercises will focus on parks and recreation, infrastructure, urban design, and more. Additional public input will be sought as the plan is presented to the Planning Commission and to the Municipal Council prior to the Plan’s adoption.
