This is an important step in making sure the City of Berkeley's financial business is done with socially responsible institutions. It is unfortunate that Wells Fargo and other large banks have engaged in financing destructive fossil fuel development and private prisons, fraudulent practices targeting of vulnerable communities, and violation of tribal rights and lands. However, since this is the case, we must speak the language of the banks, which is by moving money and investments. Thank you, Berkeley, for joining this global movement.
