San Mateo Public Works is finalizing the 28th Avenue Bicycle Boulevard Concept design and wants feedback from the surrounding community. What type of Bicycle Boulevard improvements matter to you most?
The 28th Avenue Bike Boulevard will install traffic calming and bicycle/pedestrian facility enhancements on 28th Avenue between Mason Lane and El Camino Real. This segment of 28th Avenue fronts several community facilities and provides connectivity between several arterial roadways, including Hillsdale Boulevard, Alameda de las Pulgas, and El Camino Real. The bike boulevard will also provide connectivity to an existing Class I bikeway on the north side of E. 28th Avenue east of the Caltrain railroad tracks once the 25th Avenue Grade Separation is complete. This bike facility will also be utilized as the primary east-west connection to the future location of the Hillsdale Caltrain Station.
Staff held outreach meetings earlier this year to get feedback on the initial design. Based on community feedback, the city’s design consultant have revised the conceptual design. We would like to share the plans with you and welcome any feedback you may have!
