The City of Flagstaff is working with the community to better understand vehicle idling in Flagstaff. What is idling? Vehicle idling occurs when a vehicle is left running while stopped for more than ten seconds. This survey will take 5 to 10 minutes to complete.

The City of Flagstaff’s Street Lighting for Enhancing Dark Skies (SLEDS) project team is presently testing five (5) new types of light emitting diode (LED) fixtures in five different locations: Cheshire, Butler Avenue, 4th Street near the Aquaplex, Route 66 from 4th to Arrowhead, and the Cedar and West street intersection. These fixtures are proposed as replacements for the low-pressure sodium (LPS) roadway lighting currently in use. Conversion to LED is necessary since LPS will not be available after July 2019. The goal of the SLEDS project is to maintain appropriate lighting levels while preserving the City’s dark sky resources and maintaining the missions of Lowell Observatory and the U. S. Naval Observatory.

We invite your feedback on Flagstaff’s first Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. The Climate Plan will provide a roadmap for reducing local greenhouse gas emissions and preparing Flagstaff for a changing climate.
Now is the best time to provide feedback to steer the direction of the Climate Plan. Goals and strategies have been proposed for the Climate Plan, based on prior community input, and we want to hear from you.

We invite you to share your feedback on the Flagstaff Community Forum.
There are two recently posted topics:
In 2016, Flagstaff voters permanently preserved 300-acres of City-owned land on McMillan Mesa as open space. This means that these lands can never be developed, except in a way that supports outdoor recreation and environmental education opportunities for Flagstaff residents and visitors.
The Flagstaff community worked hard to protect these lands, and now we need your input to help develop a management plan that reflects the community’s values associated with this special place. Please take 10-15 minutes to fill out our survey and help us better understand how you use McMillan Mesa and how you feel the area can be improved.
Have you seen the new orange “Spin” bikes around Flagstaff? They are part of a pilot program for a dockless bike share. We invite you to participate in this community forum to learn and let us know how you think bike share can work better in Flagstaff.

The City of Flagstaff and the Southside Community Association are working together to develop a new neighborhood plan for the vibrant and historic Southside neighborhood. "Community Visioning" is the first step and involves getting a wide variety of perspectives on the neighborhood from those that live, work, and have connections to this neighborhood.
We invite everyone with any connection to the Southside to take this survey to help create a shared vision.
This survey will take 15-20 minutes.

The City of Flagstaff is pleased to announce that the final draft of the High Occupancy Housing Specific Plan is available online at www.flagstaff.az.gov/hohplan. The City Council will hold a final public hearing and vote on the adoption of the High Occupancy Housing Specific Plan on February 20, 2018 at 6pm at City Hall (211 W. Aspen Ave). Staff will hold office hours, where we invite anyone who has questions or wants to discuss the plan content can sit down to go over the plan. These will be held on:
February 8 at 12:00pm - 2:30 pm at the Main Library (300 W. Aspen Ave.) February 9 at 10am - 12pm at the East Flagstaff Library (3000 N. 4th Street)

We have created a series of interactive maps (http://arcg.is/1mznqb) to describe the concept of PedBikeWays (Pedestrian-Bicycle Superhighways) – a potential series of linear corridors that would allow safe and comfortable cross-town travel for pedestrians and bicyclists.
Four potential PedBikeWays have been identified: Milton, Downtown/Southside, Eastside, and Westside. We are asking for your assistance to refine the plan for PedBikeWays, and to help move the concept forward.
First, spend some time reviewing the interactive maps (http://arcg.is/1mznqb) to become familiar with potential PedBikeWays. Then, complete a short survey and comment form at the Flagstaff Community Forum (https://www.peakdemocracy.com/5793) to share your thoughts with us about PedBikeWays.
PedBikeWays will be included in the City’s Active Transportation Master Plan (www.flagstaff.az.gov/atmp) and could be considered in the list of projects to be funded via renewal of the City’s Transportation Tax.

Over the next 6 months, the City of Flagstaff will work with community members to develop the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan. This Plan will help build a more resilient, responsive, and sustainable Flagstaff for its residents, businesses, and visitors.
We want to know your priorities and concerns about sustainable City and community practices and policies related to climate change. Your input will be used to guide the goals and strategies in this Plan.

The City of Flagstaff is seeking public input on a proposed public art project at the next Beautification and Public Art Commission meeting. This meeting will be on December 11, 2017 at 4 p.m. at City Hall in the Staff Conference Room (upstairs).

This survey is intended to collect information from Flagstaff Area residents about the Rio de Flag, which is a stream that begins on the western slopes of the San Francisco Peaks and weaves its way through Flagstaff south, eventually turning north and flowing out of town near Doney Park. This survey includes questions about the Rio de Flag and the "tributaries" or small streams that contribute some water flow to the Rio de Flag.
This information will assist the Friends of the Rio de Flag, the City of Flagstaff, and Coconino County in understanding how you use and interact with the Rio de Flag, and the types of improvement and enhancement projects you think are needed for our local stream. We will use your feedback to guide and inform our planning efforts for improving and maintaining the Rio de Flag watershed.
This survey should take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

Did you fill out one of the High Occupancy Housing Plan topics in the last two months? If you did, thank you very much for taking the time to give the City team feedback. The project team received over 400 unique public comments across multiple platforms.
The input provided from these topic has been incorporated into an updated draft of the High Occupancy Housing (HOH) Plan. The City will be holding a joint Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council Work Session On Wednesday November 8th at 4pm at City Hall. At this work session, the Commission and Council will review the results of all of the public involvement on HOH and will give direction to staff on the content of the final draft.

The City of Flagstaff wants your feedback to define the scope of work for a traffic impact/form-based code consultant. There is a community desire to maintain and enhance neighborhood character by preventing large, inappropriately scaled buildings and properly mitigate the resultant traffic impacts. Where there are ambiguities, inconsistencies and contradictions in the existing Transect Code or Engineering Standards, recommendations will be made by the consultant that would bring the development standards in alignment with the stated purposes of the code.
We have created a unique public participation exercise for the community where you can read the scope of work and general information regarging the Request for Statement of Qualifications (RSOQ) while directly commenting (or annotating) each section. To review these sections and leave your comments click here.
We also encourage your attendance at a public meeting to discuss this scope at the Murdoch Community Center on Wednesday October 18th at 5:30pm. Staff from the Planning and Engineering Departments will be present to answer your questions and solicit in person feedback.

The City wants your feedback to help evaluate ideas about the policies for the final High Occupancy Housing Plan. This is the fourth of four topics that break out a part of the draft High Occupancy Housing (HOH) Plan and solicit your feedback. It should take you about 15 minutes to complete this survey.
Don't forget that the Citizen's Review Session of the HOH Plan is scheduled for Wednesday, November 8th at 4pm. This will be a joint meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City Council, a very rare opportunity to share your feedback with both. The City of Flagstaff is looking for your feedback on how High Occupancy Housing (HOH) developments can be designed in a way that promotes a variety of transportation options for residents and mitigate the impacts on traffic congestion. In many peer communities, transportation demand management programs are being developed and this is one of several proposals for Flagstaff in the draft plan. This survey is the third of four that request feedback from the Flagstaff community on the policies and strategies proposed for High Occupancy Housing, in this case, related to transportation.

New topic this week! We want your feedback on some of the key proposals from the High Occupancy Housing Draft Specific Plan. The Plan proposes several strategies for addressing how to maintain the community's historic buildings and how to better integrate new and old buildings into neighborhoods. Take a 15 minute break and share your thoughts, ideas and concerns.

The City of Flagstaff has released a draft High Occupancy Housing Plan for a 60-day public review. Over the next few weeks, there will be four Flagstaff Community Forum topics posted to help you give feedback on this comprehensive proposal. Topics will be posted weekly and left open until the end of the review period.

The City of Flagstaff is currently in the process of rethinking how we manage waste and we need your help.
As we craft a new plan for improving how we handle Flagstaff's waste, we need your input to help set goals, guide operations and develop new programs and policies to achieve them.

Flagstaff adopted a new type of zoning in 2011. The transect zones are an option for all the property owners in the Downtown Regulating Plan area, who want to redevelop their property. For the last 6 months, the City Council and staff have been reviewing how the transect zones are working and what could be better about them. We are looking for feedback on the first amendment proposed, which would set new standards for what is currently known as commercial block buildings.
- Review the proposed Transect Code Amendments,
- Give us your feedback on the Flagstaff Community Forum topic,
- Attend a public meeting on August 8th at 6pm at our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 224 S. Kendrick.
Note: These amendments would only apply to projects that use the transect zoning standards, and not projects like the Residence Inn, which use the conventional zoning. This survey is intended to collect information from trail users about the Flagstaff Urban Trails System (FUTS), which is a city-wide network of non-motorized, shared-use paths that are used for both transportation and recreation. This information will assist the City of Flagstaff in enhancing existing trails and planning future trails.
This survey is specifically about FUTS trails, which are typically 8 to 10 feet in width, paved or aggregate-surfaced, and located within city limits. The survey not intended to include single-track trails, which are typically 1 to 2 feet in width and typically located in the National Forest outside of city limits.
This survey should take about 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

As you head out of town for spring break, wouldn't it be great if you could travel conveniently out of Flagstaff to more places? The Flagstaff Airport is working diligently to attract additional air service to our community. Recently, you may have filled out an airport survey asking you how often you fly, where, experience at the terminal, and more. We have since shared those results with our contacts at several conferences and in our daily interactions. We have now been tasked with asking you six more questions to help us continue the dialogue as ‘connectivity’ is important to airlines when offering new service.

Blueprint 2040 will impact the future of transportation for people in and around Flagstaff. The plan recommends investing nearly $280 million between 2020 and 2040 in a balance of roads, transit service and pedestrian and bicycle facilities.

What is bike share? Bike share systems allow individuals to use publically owned bikes for short periods of time with the ability to pick up and drop off bikes in separate locations. This system enables one-way trips and does not necessitate owning and maintaining one’s own bike. The Bike Share Hub is the structure in which you would drop-off or pick-up a bike.
This stage in public outreach is searching for imput on where potential Bike Share hubs should be located. Where would you like to be able to pick-up and drop-off bikes? Please let us know your prefered locations using this interactive map survey.

City of Flagstaff Parks and Recreation is asking for your input to renovate existing playground equipment at Thorpe Park. Flagstaff's Parks Department is going to replace the current equipment south of Montoya Center in 2017 (area in purple). Our goal is to upgrade the existing equipment and surfacing that allows children of all abilities to play together.
We have worked with three vendors to provide some concepts that promotes inclusive play. Your feedback will help us to finalize the designs for the playground.

What is bike share? Bike share systems allow individuals to use publically owned bikes for short periods of time with the ability to pick up and drop off bikes in separate locations. This system enables one-way trips and does not necessitate owning and maintaining one’s own bike. The number of bike share systems in the US has rapidly expanded in the past 5 years in part thanks to a variety of technology enhancements that make bikes easy to find and check out. Bike share systems currently operate in 75 North American cities. In Arizona, Phoenix has an operational bike share and Tucson’s will open in 2017.

There is still time to weigh in on Blueprint 2040, the City's Sustainability Events and the Milton Road Walking and Biking Survey. Don't miss your chance to be part of developing these important City policies. They will all have an impact on City plans and services for years to come.
Blueprint 2040 is the update to the Regional Transportation Plan. Your input will be used to determine which transportation projects will be eligible for federal funding for the next 10 years.
The Sustainability Section is developing their strategic plan and will use the survey responses to tailor future educations, events and outreach.
Your feedback about Milton Road will inform the proposals in the City's Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan, which is currently under review by the Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Commissions. This survey will close on October 22nd.

Flagstaff's Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committees are developing a Pedestrian-Bicycle-FUTS Master Plan. The plan will make specific recommendations for strategies, actions, projects, and programs to improve the pedestrian and bicycle environment and implement the goals and policies of the Flagstaff Regional Plan 2030 regarding walking, biking, and trails.
Milton Road is persistently a difficult location for bicycles and pedestrians and the Committees want your feedback on what improvements should be recommended in the master plan. Please take a moment to provide your feedback on these important decisions.

Blueprint 2040 is the update of the Flagstaff Metropolitan Planning Organization's (FMPO) Regional Transportation Plan, which decides what projects can receive federal transportation funding for the next 10 years. There is much transportation work to do and only so much money to go around.
The FMPO wants to hear how you would make trade-offs about future transportation projects. You can help answer important questions like: Should we improve existing roads or build new ones? Should we widen Milton or build a LoneTree overpass?
Take the survey today and help shape the future of Flagstaff.

Share your opinion about how High Occupancy Housing is designed and how it effects the Flagstaff community. High Occupancy Housing is generally more than 30 units per acre or 75 beds per acre. Buildings with these densities can be from 3 to 6 stories depending on the size of the lot and their configuration.The Online Cafe is centered on five strategic questions:
- Why is the shape, size, and location of a building important in the context of High Occupancy Housing?
- What do you value about your neighborhood? How should the things you value be incorporated into High Occupancy Housing projects?
- 10,000 NAU students live off-campus now and 5,000 more may live off-campus in the future, how should we incorporate students in our community?
- What niche can High Occupancy Housing fill in a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable community?
- What other questions should we be asking about High Occupancy Housing?
The Online Cafe will be open until September 7th.

The City of Flagstaff has posted 6 strategic questions for the public to discuss in the Online Cafe for High Occupancy Housing. The City started this dialogue with in-person Community Cafes, which were attended by 74 residents. The Online Cafe asks the same questions from the in-person Cafes and shares some of the feedback we have received so far. The project team will use the in-person and online feedback to prepare for open houses that will be scheduled soon, and to evaluate the policy options that arise through the process.
The Online Cafe will be open through September 1st. If you want to attend the last in-person cafe on Monday, August 1st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at the Main Library, please sign up at www.flagstaff.az.gov/hohplan.
