New City Court Update - Public Open House February 20, 2019 4:00 to 6:30 PM Staff Conference Room Flagstaff City Hall 211 W. Aspen Avenue, Flagstaff AZ
The City of Flagstaff will host an Open House to provide the community the opportunity to view the exterior building design and floor plan exhibits and to speak with staff about the new City Court Facility Project. The Open House will be held on February 20, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:30 PM in the Staff Conference Room at Flagstaff City Hall, 211 West Aspen Avenue.
The physical condition of the existing City Court building has deteriorated to a point where significant financial resources will be needed to remediate, remodel and stabilize the structure. In addition, the need exists for current and future space to ensure continued viability. In November of 2016, the Citizens of Flagstaff approved proposition 412 authorizing the issuance of bonds to provide adequate court room facilities, prosecution facilities, prisoner transport and holding areas, separate circulation movement for public, jurors, prisoners and court staff.
The new Court Facility will be located on City-owned property located at 101 West Cherry Avenue. The existing buildings on this parcel will be demolished to provide the site for the new Court Facility. Once the new Court Facility has been constructed and staff are relocated to the new building, the existing Flagstaff Municipal Court located at 15 North Beaver Street and the existing City Prosecutor's building located at 107 West Aspen Avenue will be demolished to provide surface parking to meet the City's Zoning Code-Title 10, parking capacity requirements.
On July 3, 2018, Flagstaff City Council awarded Kinney Construction Services (KCS) the Design Build contract to serve as the City's Design-Builder. KCS has completed the Design Documents and are proceeding with Construction Documents for the project with the intent of starting construction mid-spring of 2019. Completion of construction is anticipated for summer 2020.
We invite you to attend the Open House meeting to learn more about this important project and how it will better serve our Community.
