We need to be honest and upfront about reservoirs and what a potential threat/contamination could mean for the water supply of the city.

Nothing here mentions moving to renewables? We are in an ideal location for more solar. The city can partner with APS to either install more solar (like the community array north of town) or ensure that more of our power is derived from renewable sources elsewhere.

I'd like more advertisements/promotionals on the bike share pilot program! Happy to see the bikes but no marketing?

Besides giving out BYO campaign materials, there should be more incentives for local businesses, groceries, etc to encourage consumers to reduce individual footprints. Perhaps a small city fee on plastic grocery bags. People are more motivated to bring bags when they will have to SPEND ten cents per bag, versus save ten cents when they bring their own.

Resiliency requires diversification. We need to diversify the economy - tourism will be greatly affected as the climate changes, so we should look for ways to incentivize other businesses in town in technology, sciences, etc. It is great to protect and plan around what we currently have, but you need to find a way to encourage GROWTH in other areas.

  • Do you have any general feedback regarding the direction of the Plan overall?

In this survey, we will ask for your opinion on the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan Draft, which is split into seven focus areas:

  • Transportation and Land Use
  • Energy
  • Water Resources
  • Public Health, Facilities and Services
  • Waste and Consumption
  • Natural Environments
  • Economic Prosperity and Recreation

Due to the large amount of content available for review, we have split draft feedback into two surveys:

  1. Survey ONE (this survey) asks for general feedback on the goals and strategies for each focus area.
  2. Survey TWO covers the details, where you can provide feedback on the actions that will accomplish each strategy.

If you would like to review the introduction to the Plan, including a Plan overview, a discussion of the benefits of a Climate Plan, and a review of the climate changes that will impact Flagstaff, you can review the Plan introduction here.
