How can Flagstaff better manage transportation demand associated with High Occupancy Housing?
All new development will add traffic to the existing street network. There are three major considerations to help manage transportation pressures. First, a development's location matters. The distance one needs to travel and the travel options available from any specific location have a large effect on the overall transportation network. Second, the supply of transportation infrastructure matters. However, land constraints almost always exist that limit widening a road, and wider roads often come at the expense of other modes (walking, biking, transit). Third, various strategies can manage the demand for the limited vehicular space within a street. This survey will focus on these Transportation Demand Management (TDM) concepts. It will solicit your feedback on how HOH can take advantage of these concepts and which ones should be pursued.
The City of Flagstaff has released a draft High Occupancy Housing Plan for a 60-day public review. The review ends on September 27, 2017 and comments can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
