How can Avondale improve public communications and outreach to more effectively inform and involve the community?
The City of Avondale uses multiple communication channels to engage its citizens and provide updates on matters most important to the community. We have a Facebook page and a Twitter feed. We have a comprehensive email alerts system, allowing citizens to select what they want to hear about. The City also posts the latest news and media releases to our Avondale NOW page, which is updated regularly. We have a very robust and dynamic website that is actively used by multiple departments.
In addition to our digital communication outreach efforts, we send out print notices, flyers, and letters and we host neighborhood and city-wide outreach meetings. The Mayor and other City staff also encourage citizens to email, write, call or schedule time with them when there are questions and concerns. As you can see, we use a variety of methods to communicate and engage with Avondale citizens.
But even with all of that - we sometimes manage to miss you. So we are evaluating our current public communication and outreach methods, with the goal of doing the best job possible of informing and engaging the community about important topics, City services, initiatives, and programs that may be of interest to you.
