How can the Town of Davidson better communicate with you?
The Town of Davidson is constantly seeking better and more efficient means of providing information to and receiving information from our citizens. The recent introduction of "Open Town Hall" is intended to encourage two-way communication between citizens and our municipality.
Take the Survey, but first, please continue reading about the town's other communication channels below.
The Town of Davidson uses multiple communication channels to engage its citizens and provide updates on matters most important to the community. We send out “eCrier” emails on a regular basis and keep our robust website current. We have Facebook page, a Twitter feed, and are on Instagram. We post events and meetings, and encourage citizens to post community events, on our online calendar at www.davidsoncommunitycalendar.org.
In addition to our digital communication outreach efforts, we send out press releases to the media (The Herald Weekly, Lake Norman Citizen and sometimes the Lake Norman News Section of the Charlotte Observer typically cover us; we miss DavidsonNews.net). We have a quarterly newsletter that gets mailed to each household in January, April, July, and October. We hang and distribute flyers around town. We host regular board meetings on the second Tuesday of each month and work sessions on the fourth Tuesday of each month. We live-stream these meetings and post the videos to our website. We host public information sessions on specific topics and outreach meetings, such as the Davidson Coffee Chats on the third Monday of each month at 9:00 a.m. at The Egg at Davidson. We host meetings three times a year with our neighborhood representatives. We also offer our Civics 101 course annually beginning in February for nine weeks, to educate our citizens about our town government. The mayor, commissioners, and town staff encourage citizens to email, call, or schedule time with them when there are questions and concerns.
As you can see, we use a variety of platforms to communicate and engage with Davidson citizens.
But even with all of that, we sometimes miss reaching you. We are evaluating our current public communication and outreach methods, with the goal of doing the best job possible of informing and engaging the community about important topics, town services, initiatives, and programs that may be of interest to you.
