Traffic volumes
Please explain the nature of your concern(s) regarding traffic volumes.
Commute traffic on Mary has slowed since the road diet. It is harder to enter and exit driveways. Added to this is the proposed development at Fremont and Mary. Increased traffic and parking will add to the current problems.
Can you suggest other reasonable alternatives that would also achieve the project goals and avoid these impacts?
It is too soon to determine the impact of the road diet.
What mitigation measures would minimize these impacts?
Delay the EIR for at least two years in order to analyze the road diet effects.

What year was the Mary over crossing added to the General Plan? What was promised to the developers of Moffat Park? What has changed since the plan was adopted? What was the population of Sunnyvale then and what is it now? What office building development was existing at the time and what it is now? What is the projected development for the next five, 10 20 years? Did the original General Plan contain a projected growth for the city?
Before an EIR can be adopted as valid, residents need to see how the City plans to transition the traffic into the neighborhoods.
Will any businesses or homeowners lose their properties to eminent domain?
We were told at the meeting on 3/21 that there had been communications to the affected neighborhoods. As a resident of Mary Ave., I received no communication except through Nextdoor. Not all residents belong to that email distribution list. There were no postcards or documents sent to our neighborhood.
Several years ago we addressed this over crossing. The EIR was dismissed as containing flawed data. The upcoming report will contain flawed data if the Sunnyvale population is not informed of these plans. Publishing only in the Sunnyvale Sun will also be unsuccessful. Most people toss the paper in the recycle bin.
Bernardo Ave. is not included in the EIR. Hollenbeck Ave. has very limited areas to study. Both of these streets and the schools along them will be impacted. Please add them to the study.
Have the schools been contacted for their input? How about the care homes? Have the PTA's been contacted? These organizations significantly impact the traffic flow on Mary. And surrounding streets.
Can you suggest other reasonable alternatives that would also achieve the project goals and avoid these impacts?
No response.
What mitigation measures would minimize these impacts?
No response.
Are there any groups or agencies that you suggest we consult/contact in conjunction with the preparation of the EIR?
Schools, businesses, care homes, residents.
