Should the City close the 100 block of South Murphy Ave to vehicular traffic?
In response to the pandemic, Sunnyvale’s City Council voted to close the 100 block of South Murphy Avenue to cars (see below graphic). Since June 2020, restaurants on this block have been allowed to expand outdoor dining onto the public street. The City is now studying whether to permanently close the public street to cars. To make this decision, the City Council will be considering the following:
- How visitors access businesses on this block (e.g., no on-street parking, no street access to the front of businesses for deliveries and pick-ups)
- How businesses use the public sidewalks and public street
- Whether businesses should pay the City to use the public street
Your feedback will help the City Council evaluate whether to permanently close Murphy Avenue.
