What do you like and appreciate about the holiday events? Good family activity, Sense of community, Beautiful to look at, Holiday spirit
What concerns do you have about the events? Trash, Other - Other than trash, the events are fairly sufficient as is - and trying to force permits to put up holiday lights seems extremely excessive.
What actions can be taken to address the concerns you’ve identified? Setting up temporary trash bins throughout Eucalyptus (and even several of the surrounding blocks) would go a long way to helping curb the trash problem. This is also a relatively cost-effective solution. Reading others' suggestions, having a police presence would be nice to have, perhaps on Friday and Saturday nights beginning in early December. The city should be able to pay for this increased presence.
In addition to getting a permit, what else can you and your neighbors do to help address the concerns? I'm not sure why "getting a permit" is the underlying assumption in the survey: how would that solve the issues raised by neighbors and community members? At the very least, if a permit somehow gets majority support, the city should be paying for the permits. Eucalyptus grew as a family tradition, and San Carlos, as the City of Good Living, seems to pride itself time and time again on its support of "community events" that "bring families together" with "San Carlos spirit." Transforming the holiday experience to anything but this organic sense of community would take away from the event, and also run counter to San Carlos' mission.
What can the City do to help support these efforts and address concerns? As a neighbor just a block off Eucalyptus, I appreciate that the City is expanding the discussion of this event to everyone in the community. Looking at the suggestions, I see that this community dialogue has led to a wide variety of unique ideas - so ensuring that these options are seriously considered and not just discarded as soon as this "town hall" closes would be great. I think the City should also listen to the multitude of residents who are emphasizing that Eucalyptus has, and should continue to be, a local, community tradition. It's great that it has grown to the point where City support, in the form of trash collection and perhaps police presence, is needed, but don't try to change this unique, local tradition into something too business-like; i.e., permits, or tickets required to gain entry, or Eucalyptus only being open select days of the week. Keep Eucalyptus' holiday celebrations the holiday spirit they have always been.
Is there anything else you would like the City to know about the Eucalyptus Avenue holiday celebrations? I appreciate that the City is opening up the discussion to the community. Also, just want to re-emphasize that permits should not be an underlying assumption for the future of Eucalyptus. At the heart of the celebration are local residents choosing to foot an extra electricity bill to put up creative holiday lights so that the public - wherever they may come from - can enjoy the scenes and get in the holiday spirit. Keep Eucalyptus as is (minus a few changes with the trash), please!

What actions can be taken to address the concerns you’ve identified? Add trash receptacles during the holiday celebrations.
In addition to getting a permit, what else can you and your neighbors do to help address the concerns? Support the residents by having parking at the middle school and make the street a "no drive-through" street unless you are a resident.
What can the City do to help support these efforts and address concerns? Have sheriffs on-site to manage the j-walkers.

What do you like and appreciate about the holiday events? Good family activity, Sense of community, Beautiful to look at, Holiday spirit
What concerns do you have about the events? Trash, Other - Traffic
What actions can be taken to address the concerns you’ve identified? Putting garbage cans on the corners for go seers to drop their trash into. Neighbors can put up signs that ask people who are visiting to Leave your holiday spirit not your trash : )
What can the City do to help support these efforts and address concerns? Direct the traffic from one direction so that there is a constant flow vs cars being able to enter Eucalyptus from any street which creates a bottleneck of traffic that can back up for up to 45 minutes.
Is there anything else you would like the City to know about the Eucalyptus Avenue holiday celebrations? I have lived on Birch Avenue for 16 years now and I realize the traffic and garbage and number of people have all increased and become a nuisance and headache for many of my neighbors. I personally would love to see this tradition continue for both the neighbors and surrounding community. There are so few things that are as simple as the decoration and lights during the holiday time that bring joy to people and I think its important that the city of San Carlos and its residents work together to figure out how to keep the holiday spirit in people's hearts.

What do you like and appreciate about the holiday events? Beautiful to look at
What concerns do you have about the events? Crowd size
What actions can be taken to address the concerns you’ve identified? Have more police directing traffic. It's a great display but unfortunately we have many more folks visiting as it has gotten publicity in neighboring communities.
In addition to getting a permit, what else can you and your neighbors do to help address the concerns? Be respectful of neighbors and folks walking especially leave no discards on folk's property.
What can the City do to help support these efforts and address concerns? Ticket anyone trashing.
Is there anything else you would like the City to know about the Eucalyptus Avenue holiday celebrations? It was more fun many years ago. Just too popular now. But we can't go back to times past.

What do you like and appreciate about the holiday events? Good family activity, Sense of community, Beautiful to look at, Holiday spirit
What concerns do you have about the events? Other - None, I think they are great.
What actions can be taken to address the concerns you’ve identified? None. I think it is a great tradition.
In addition to getting a permit, what else can you and your neighbors do to help address the concerns? Leave them alone.
What can the City do to help support these efforts and address concerns? Nothing. The city has bigger and better things to worry about such as paving the roads, fixing the sidewalks improving the ingress and egress onto Highway 101.
Is there anything else you would like the City to know about the Eucalyptus Avenue holiday celebrations? They should add 4th of July to their decorating list.

What do you like and appreciate about the holiday events? Beautiful to look at, Holiday spirit
What concerns do you have about the events? Safety, Crowd size, Trash, Noise, Crime
What actions can be taken to address the concerns you’ve identified? There needs to be traffic control. More one way streets. We are on Birch Ave and if we ever had to get out in an emergency we would not be able to. It's scary to think that we are trapped in our houses. Shuttle busses from El Camino would be nice to eliminate car traffic which really is the biggest problem. Portable potties should be put on Eucalyptus and Birch Ave along with garbage cans.
Is there anything else you would like the City to know about the Eucalyptus Avenue holiday celebrations? I love Halloween because it's only one day. The Christmas display is a month long and very disruptive for the neighbors.
