The City has drafted its Housing Assistance Plan outlining Tamarac’s housing assistance program for the next three fiscal years. Please review this draft and share your comments.

Thank you for participating!

Plan Adopted

Thank you for taking your time to review Tamarac’s Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) for fiscal years 2016/2017, 2017/2018 and 2018/2019.  We appreciate that many of you shared your support and personal experiences, which highlights the importance of this grant-funded program.  The LHAP serves as a blueprint to ensure that low and moderate income residents, including families and seniors, have access to quality housing and/or are able to make necessary repairs to maintain the standard of their property.  The actual number of families assisted during each fiscal year will depend on the grant funding secured for the program and the cost associated with the types of assistance required by eligible households.  As some of you noted, the ability to improve the City’s housing stock has a positive impact on the overall quality of our neighborhoods and property values.

Tamarac’s City Commission adopted LHAP at a public hearing on June 8th, 2016.  To learn more about this plan, you may watch a presentation made at the June 6th Commission Workshop.

Many of you asked how and when you can apply.  This year’s open enrollment period for the owner-occupied Home Rehabilitation program is August 22nd - September 2nd.   Homeowners will be able to apply online or drop off their applications at the Housing Division Offices in City Hall at 7525 NW 88th Ave., Room 206.
