What assistance would help your business/organization at this time?
We will need financial assistance to help with paying the rent and extra expenses related to protective measures and social distancing requirements in our physical studio when we can resume classes. In addition there are administrative costs of maintaining a combination of studio and online classes and events, which is the direction we will need to go. We lose significant income for studio classes due to social distancing requirements. For example, 25 students in a class would be replaced by 6-8 in the same space. Online classes are requiring additional equipment and administrative expenses.

Is there anything else that you would like the City of Mountain View Staff to know?
We have been in business in Mountain View since 1998. We just signed a 5 year lease at our current location. Our in-studio class sizes will be dramatically reduced because of the restrictions required by physical distancing–class fees are almost 99% of our revenues. We want and need to maintain a physical studio space and want to be confident we can support it. We are doing online classes now on a limited basis. When we can open the studio, we will have to re-work our business model adopting some combination of online and studio classes. We are committed to making this work and we can really use your support.

Is there anything else that you would like the City of Mountain View Staff to know?
I am still paying the staff I have laid off at a rate of about 2/3's of what they made weekly. If there are any funds that the City is considering to help offset some of those costs, especially in light of the inability to get any PPP funds on the first go-round through my bank, I would respectfully submit my hat in the ring since my employees are very much a part of this community's lives - at least, some locals and people who work locally who look forward to their daily communal socializing at my cafe and the comfortable experience my staff gives them .

What additional impacts is your business experiencing at this time? (Check all that apply.)
Inability to pay bills, fees, Other - We aren't allowed to work under the guidelines, no landscaping or yard maintenance. I operate a legitimate business in town and have a business license with approx 50 residential maintenance clients. I am keeping my crews at home, but see other gardeners

If the current situation continues, how long can you sustain operations?
Very worried and concerned that we will not be able to recover

What assistance would help your business/organization at this time?
A relaxing of the rules to allow outdoor yard maintenance work and landscaping. I see many other gardeners working and it is very frustrating to see that while we are locked down and playing by the rules. At a minimum, let us do our yard maintenance work, follow all the safety protocols. And enforce that people/companies have business licenses.

Is there anything else that you would like the City of Mountain View Staff to know?
Our work is all out of doors and is easy to conduct while still observing distancing and safety rules. There are already a ton of gardeners working all around town the county...with not being enforced. This is very frustrating to see while we stay shut down to obey the rules. Why should I have to go out of business while they can keep on working?
