Industrial lands make up 21 percent of San Leandro’s land area. For decades, the City’s policy has been to reserve these areas for industrial uses and to limit activities such as shopping and housing. Today, the City has undertaken significant initiatives such as the public-private Lit San Leandro high speed fiber optic broadband network to attract new and innovative businesses to the underutilized or vacant industrial sites and the Next Generation Industrial Workplace District Study, completed in 2013, which provided short- and long-term ideas to modernize the industrial area. What do you think? Please share your thoughts about the types of uses you’d like to see -- or not see -- in San Leandro’s industrial zones during the next 20 years.
