Help Humboldt County set its priorities for the coming years
The County of Humboldt in March held three Roadshows around the county to discuss the Board's Strategic Framework and learn from attendees which current projects are most important to them. Now, the county is looking to hear from other parts of community. Below is a video synopsis of one of this year's Roadshow meetings. Please take a few moments to look over the Strategic Framework document, view the video and tell the county where it should focus its energy going forward.
ROADSHOW 2019 - CENTRAL HUMBOLDT
In order to address some of its most pressing concerns, the county has developed what is call its Strategic Framework.
This is the county's strategic plan and it lays out some broad goals and big-picture ideas it wants to see happen in Humboldt County. The county has had a version of the Framework for several years, but last year staff and elected officials really started to drill down on those goals and identify the concrete steps needed to get there.
The Framework is broken down in to three broad goals, with specific projects to achieve those goals:
- HEALTHY AND SAFE COMMUNITIES (pg 7)
- This is where we have plans for increasing access to housing, reducing ACEs, and addressing substance abuse
- HEALTHY ENVIRONOMENT WITH ROBUST INFRASTRUCTURE (pg 11)
- We talk about improving roads, trails, communications infrastructure and healthy forests and watersheds
- A RESILIENT AND THRIVING ECONOMY (pg 15)
- Focusing on the waterfront, food production, Supporting cannabis industry, and doing more with biomass, wind and solar energy.
The Framework plan has about three dozen projects identified. The county wants to know which ones mean the most to you.
The county only has so much budget, and lots of challenges coming our way, it’s vital to prioritize the county's work.
While the in-person Roadshows are done for this year, the county is taking online feedback until the end of April. Thank you for taking time to share your priorities.
Feedback from all three Roadshows and online will be presented to the Board of Supervisors prior to adoption of the FY 2019-20 budget. There will be other opportunitues for the community to weigh in on the budget:
