What should Campaign Finance Reform look like in Humboldt County?
Update July 20, 2014
On Tuesday, July 22, the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors is taking up Campaign Finance Reform as an agenda item.
You can go to the Supervisor's meeting starting at 9am at 825 Fifth Street, Eureka CA 95501 Supervisors' Chamber, First Floor. You can also post your response to this survey here on Open Humboldt.
The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors in March addressed the topic of campaign finance reform. Since beginning this conversation last year, the Board has learned about approaches other counties have taken, important court cases, and even heard local opinion on the topic. With this newfound knowledge, we can now ask more questions that can help us move forward.
We invite you to take a look at the Sonoma County ordinance, which could serve as a model for Humboldt County. Also, please watch and listen to the below discussion on the topic (you can also watch it on the next page). When you're done, let us know what you think about the above ordinance, voluntary spending and contribution caps, and enforcement measures relating to campaign finance reform.
