  • What do you like about a) your neighborhood and b) the city overall?
Safe, clean, lots of open space, good schools, good library system
  • What would you change about your neighborhood or the city?
More sidewalks and bike paths. Although schools are good, they should be as good as Northern VA.
  • What specific housing-related challenges or problems do you experience/observe in your family, community or work?
VB needs more affordable housing options especially for those at the lowest income levels.
  • Based on your experience or observation, what is the underlying cause/source of these problems or challenges?
Jobs that pay too little, do not offer a full work week and do not have leave and health benefits.
  • Are there additional consequences that stem from the housing problems/challenges you experience or observe?
Poor housing results in poorer health and causes children to have to move around a lot and their education suffers. Lack of housing choice also results in homelessness.
  • What resources would address or alleviate the housing problems/challenges you experience or observe?
VB could work with employers to encourage them to offer full time jobs with benefits. Inclusionary zoning would help increase the affordable housing stock.
  • Do you currently benefit from any housing-related resources provided by the City or local not-for-profit organizations?
    No
  • What changes might improve the resources offered in the City?
Residential substance abuse recovery resources would help alleviate the problem of homelessness.
