Please provide your feedback on the proposed painting by Jeff Segler and the proposed location.
The Art in Public Places Board has been approached by the National Artist for the Boy Scouts of America, Jeff Segler, with a concept for a large painting to be hung above the main fireplace in the Pajarito Room inside Fuller Lodge. The painting would depict the early Scouts of Troop 22 at the Los Alamos Ranch School.
The Board recognizes that Fuller Lodge is an important public space for the community that is used for a wide variety of events. A large representational image placed prominently in the main room would be a significant change. Do you support this project? What do you think of the original proposed location? Would you prefer a scaled down version placed somewhere else within Fuller Lodge? Is there another location you think would be appropriate?
Project costs are anticipated between $80,000 and $100,000. Sufficient funds are available in the Art in Public Places account, which was created by an ordinance that sets aside 1% of the cost of Capital Improvement projects (1/2 % of road projects) for public art in Los Alamos County. APPB is tasked with making art recommendations to the County Council, which has final authority on expenditures from the account. Public input is an important consideration in the decisions of the Art Board and County Council, so please review the project proposal information and image and leave your comments on Open Forum. Additional feedback for the Board can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for your input.
