The statewide minimum wage will reach $15 per hour in January 2022 for employers with more than 25 employees and January 2023 for employers with 25 or fewer employees. In subsequent years, increases will be based on the consumer price index (CPI). The full schedule is shown below:
The Fremont City Council is considering whether or not to establish a local minimum wage ordinance that would raise the minimum wage to $15 per hour more rapidly than the State.
One possible approach the City Council could consider is the following schedule that would increase the local minimum wage to $15 per hour by 2020 for all employers in two steps:
