What should be the General Plan land use designation for the property at 10 East Las Palmas Avenue?
The City has initiated a General Plan Amendment process to redesignate the property at 10 East Las Palmas Avenue (currently the home of the Mission Hills Swim and Tennis Club) from “Kimber Study Area” to an appropriate General Plan land use designation; this designation has yet to be determined.
The General Plan land use designation governs what development would be permitted on the property in the future. On March 17, 2016, the City held a community meeting to solicit input from the public. The feedback from the public meeting and this online forum will be considered by staff and decision makers.
There are 22 distinct land use designations in the Fremont General Plan; however, only a few would be appropriate given that the property is located within an existing low-density residential neighborhood and is partially developed with a private swim and tennis facility in a naturalistic setting. In September 2014, the City Council approved an expansion of the facility.
