Input Needed for Propel Vallejo General Plan Update - New Zoning Code Project
The City of Vallejo has initiated the New Zoning Code Project as the final element of the Propel Vallejo General Plan Update Initiatives and is seeking input on the first of four Modules by answering the following questions:
- Have you ever had difficulty finding what you need in the Zoning Code?
- Which existing regulations in the Zoning Code are of concern and why?
- Does the Zoning Code need to do a better job explaining the meaning of words or terms?
The existing Zoning Code predates the new Propel Vallejo General Plan 2040 adopted by City Council in 2017 and updated last year, and California law requires our Zoning Code to be consistent with the General Plan. The new Zoning Code will translate Vallejo’s General Plan 2040 into specific regulations to control land uses within the City and streamline the development review process, making it easier to live and do business in Vallejo. The process is scheduled to take 12 to 15 months to complete.
The Zoning Code Project is divided into four modules and tentative schedule as follows:
Please provide input on the above Module 1 questions by July 3, 2019.
The existing Zoning Code is found in Title 16 of the Vallejo Municipal Code, and can be found online, here: Information regarding upcoming Community Open Houses and Zoning Code Project information is available on the Propel Vallejo website.
