The Neighborhood Conservation Program is considering improvements to Nelly Custis Park. Before we develop a design and request funding, we want to be sure we are on the right track. There have been two scoping meetings to discuss potential improvements to the park with the Aurora Highlands community. Share your thoughts.

In an effort to increase awareness of County meetings, activities, and events and allow for more opportunities for the public to engage and participate, Arlington County is undertaking an initiative to consolidate and present this information in new and varied formats. Your participation in this survey will help us evaluate what items are of interest to be included and how they can be filtered by users based on date, location, interests, etc.; as well as allow for crowdsourced comments.

What feedback do you have on volunteering in Arlington County?
Arlington County is considering whether outsourcing the Volunteer Arlington program (now housed in the County’s Department of Human Services) would lead to more volunteer activity throughout the community. The County Manager has appointed an Advisory Task Force to make recommendations to help shape the future direction of volunteer services in our community.
An important step is to gather input from stakeholders. Learn more and take our short survey on volunteer services and needs in Arlington. Your feedback will help determine the future of volunteer services in the County.

When Arlington County staff came to a Penrose Civic Association meeting to discuss the Phase II improvements for Butler Holmes Park, some community members asked if the tot lot could be fenced so that young children could not easily enter or exit.

Arlington is getting its first playground that is designed for EVERYONE…including people with mental or physical disabilities. The new playground is part of the $1.1 million from the 2014 Parks Maintenance Capital Funds for the redesign and construction of the playground and sand volleyball court at Quincy Park.

Large-scale, for-profit bar crawls are a new phenomenon to Arlington County. The events are becoming more popular, and the County expects demand to grow. The events also have had an impact on Police and other County services. County staff are developing recommendations on ways to manage “bar crawls” and want your input as they develop policy recommendations.
